From time to time, your best friend may begin scooting around your house dragging his tushy on your carpets or you'll see your pet licking its anal area or chasing its tail a lot . If you've ever wondered what was going on - your dog is trying to clear out those pesky anal sac glands. Anal sacs are organs located beneath the skin and anal sphincter muscles at about the five and seven o'clock positions surrounding the rectum. The material secreted into these glands is thick and foul smelling. Walking around and normal defecation helps to empty the glands, but some animals become unable to empty their glands on their own. And dogs aren't the only ones, cats often lick the fur off just under their tails for the same reason.
Because this procedure can be very smelly and messy, we offer to do this simple procedure for you as an add-on when your animal gets his/her bath.
